The Mountain Is You - COMMENT

Do you think that, in your life problems, you hinder your growth process? Do you put your own obstacles? •••

Your new life is going to cost you your old one. It’s going to cost you your comfort zone and your sense of direction. It’s going to cost you relationships and friends. It’s going to cost you being liked and understood. It doesn’t matter. The people who are meant for you are going to meet you on the other side. You’re going to build a new comfort zone around the things that actually move you forward. Instead of being liked, you’re going to be loved. Instead of being understood, you’re going to be seen. All you’re going to lose is what was built for a person you no longer are.

🌀 When we read books related to personal growth it’s common to identify certain elements (with a metaphoric meaning) associated with obstacles to overcome, a success that we want to achieve, a goal to reach, between those elements is the “mountain”. •••

🌀 In this sense, sometimes a mountain can be linked to a difficult situation that we need/have to handle, a thing that could be so huge that looks overwhelming. •••

🌀 In addition, and talking about the parts of a mountain, it has a base (the lower level of it), slope (the different inclined surfaces), and peak (the highest point of a mountain). Metaphorically speaking, we could equate those parts of a mountain with the different phases that a difficult situation has. •••

🌀 Furthermore, everybody wants to reach the peak, to win the race, to overcome the obstacles, but this demands all of our best effort, attitude, and energy. Sadly, and with frequency, instead of going forward in this process, we self-sabotage our own progress path. •••

🌀 In this context, we have a good book by Brianna Wiest, an American writer, and poet, “The Mountain Is You”. This masterpiece refers all a great and complete panorama of self-sabotage and how this affects our personal growth considering all the situations around us: positive and negative ones. •••

🌀 Additionally, Wiest gives us a lot of ways to overcome obstacles that we have on the inside and outside of us. She tries to walk with us hand-in-hand in this personal process. During the page reading she presents and explains some ideas that probably could not agree with us and also with our way of thinking. •••

🌀 Finally, I must confess that I don’t always like to read this type of books (honestly, I prefer another type of reading, like historical novels… LOL), but this book caught my attention when I read its synopsis and some comments on the web. I liked to read this book by Brianna Wiest; I recommended it. •••

🌀 Sometimes we are our own mountains in our growth process… but not anymore. We decide to change that; we can do it! •••
