Las Tinieblas Y El Alba - COMENTARIO (The Evening And The Morning - COMMENT)

¿Creerías que si dos personas están destinadas a estar juntas, pese a cualquier contrariedad, lo lograrán estar? ¿Hasta cuándo se debería esperar? •••

Vio que los ojos de Ragna se arrasaban en lágrimas, y a continuación pronunció su respuesta:

Esta es la cuarta novela de Ken Follett que tengo en mis manos y no quería que se terminara (a pesar de lo extensa que es: 929 páginas). Las Tinieblas y el Alba es la precuela de la trilogía Los Pilares de la Tierra. La historia va de esta manera: Los Pilares De La Tierra (libro 1), Un Mundo Sin Fin (libro 2), Una Columna de Fuego (libro 3), Las Tinieblas Y El Alba (libro 0). •••

 

Esta historia comienza a mediados del año 997 d.C. y finaliza a inicio del 1007 d.C. en Britania, con la decadencia del Imperio Romano, en un período histórico conocido como la Edad Oscura del cual se conoce muy poca información. Todo se basa en hipótesis, especulaciones o teorías, por lo que se hace complejo la reconstrucción de los hechos históricos. •••

 

La trama de esta novela se centra principalmente en un triángulo de personajes: Ragna, Aldred y Edgar, donde alrededor de éstos comienzan a desgajarse las subtramas de éstas. •••

 

Cada una de sus vidas estará completamente separada y desconocida unos de otros, pero, los acontecimientos que comienzan en el pueblo de Combe, empiezan a provocar que sus caminos vayan encontrándose: Ragna, una chica normanda perteneciente a la nobleza de Cherburgo; Aldred, un monje idealista; Edgar, un joven de Combe constructor de barcos, que se convertirá posteriormente en un gran constructor de edificaciones. •••

 

El desarrollo de toda la novela tiene una mezcla de lucha de poderes religiosos, políticos, intrigas, venganza, romance, engaños para la consecución de altos cargos importantes. Todos estos ingredientes se verán amarrados por las acciones del malvado, perverso y despiadado Obispo Wynstan y el resto de su familia, junto el constante ataque de los vikingos. •••

 

En la novela Las Tinieblas y el Alba comienza a aparecer el pueblo de Kingsbridge, el cual será la locación central de la siguiente novela (Los Pilares de la Tierra). •••

 

Esta historia es realmente cautivante, atrapante, enganchante, donde el lector no desea que ésta termine (como me pasó a mi). •••

 

Muchas personas a veces le huyen a este tipo de novelas (casi siempre históricas) que, por su trama, suelen ser muy extensas. En mi caso, por el contrario, me encantan, o por lo menos, las de este autor en particular. En ningún momento se siente que la historia se haya quedado atascada, sino que cada página es tan emocionante y apasionante como la que le sigue y como la que le precede. Honestamente amo esta saga y creo que podría llegar a leerla de nuevo, y la recomiendo con los ojos cerrados a todos aquellos que les gusta el género histórico, medieval, europeo. •••

This is the fourth Ken Follett novel I've held in my hands and I didn't want it to end (despite how long it is: 929 pages). The Evening And The Morning is the prequel to The Pillars of the Earth trilogy. The story goes like this: The Pillars Of The Earth (book 1), A World Without End (book 2), A Collumn Of Fire (book 3), The Evening And The Morning (book 0). •••

 

This story begins in mid 997 A.D. and ends in early 1007 A.D. in Britain, with the decline of the Roman Empire, in a historical period known as the Dark Ages about which very little information is known. Everything is based on hypotheses, speculations or theories, making the reconstruction of historical facts complex. •••

 

The plot of this novel focuses mainly on a triangle of characters: Ragna, Aldred and Edgar, where around them begin to unravel the subplots of these. •••

 

Each of their lives will be completely separate and unknown to each other, but the events that begin in the village of Combe, begin to cause their paths to meet: Ragna, a Norman girl belonging to the nobility of Cherbourg; Aldred, an idealistic monk; Edgar, a young Combe shipbuilder, who will later become a great builder of buildings. •••

 

The development of the whole novel has a mixture of religious power struggle, politics, intrigues, revenge, romance, deception for the attainment of high important positions. All these ingredients will be tied together by the actions of the evil, wicked and ruthless Bishop Wynstan and the rest of his family, along with the constant attack of the Vikings. •••

 

In the novel The Evening And The Morning the town of Kingsbridge begins to appear, which will be the central location of the next novel (The Pillars of the Earth). •••

 

This story is really captivating, catching, hooking, where the reader does not want it to end (as it happened to me). •••

 

Many people sometimes shy away from this type of novels (almost always historical) that, because of their plot, are usually very long. In my case, on the contrary, I love them, or at least, those of this particular author. At no time do you feel that the story is being. •••
