¿Qué tanto poder puede tener una persona o una familia dentro de una sociedad? ¿Cómo es posible utilizar ese poder?

 

 

 

Lucrecia estaba siendo vestida para su casamiento. Sus mujeres estaban de pie a su alrededor, admirando su vestido, recargado de bordados dorados y llenos de perlas. Los rubíes resplandecían alrededor su cuello, y el diseño del vestido mezclaba las armas de los Aragón y los Borgia. […]

Era una Borgia. No debía olvidarlo. Hacia donde mirara, se veía enfrentada por el emblema del toro que pacía. «No debemos soñar con un amor y un matrimonio simple», se decía a sí misma. «Eso es para gente simple, para gente sin un gran destino.»

Una novela de Los Borgia siempre la he considerado como una historia sumamente fascinante, por el inconmensurable poder que comenzaron a tener una vez que Rodrigo Borgia se convirtió en Papa de la Iglesia de Roma y todas las jugarretas que hacían, manipulando el poder eclesiástico, social y político que tenían en sus manos.

 

Sus principales amados y adorados hijos, Juan, César y Lucrecia siempre son centro de pasiones, intrigas, matrimonios, muertes, todo en pro del enaltecimiento del apellido Borgia y de lo que eso representa.

 

En esta novela, siento que Jean Plaidy logra resaltar con bastante énfasis la figura femenina de la época, su impacto, su manipulabilidad y maleabilidad, su sometimiento a la figura masculina, entre otras. También, destaca todas esas mujeres que están en el entorno inmediato del Papa Borgia, su hija, sus amantes, la madre de sus hijos, sus criadas.

 

Considero que la historia va agarrando mayor emoción después de la mitad del libro; al principio se hace un poco lenta la trama (según mi apreciación), de igual manera, siempre amo leer una novela de ellos.

 

 

Calificación Personal: 8,5 de 10 puntos (MUY BUENA).

She was a Borgia. She was not to forget it. Wherever she looked, she was confronted by the emblem of the grazing bull. "We must not dream of simple love and marriage," she told herself. "That is for simple people, for people without a great destiny."

A novel of The Borgias I have always found to be an extremely fascinating story, because of the immeasurable power they began to wield once Rodrigo Borgia became Pope of the Church of Rome and all the tricks they played, manipulating the ecclesiastical, social and political power they held in their hands.

 

His main beloved and adored children, Juan, Cesare and Lucrezia are always at the center of passions, intrigues, marriages, deaths, all for the exaltation of the Borgia name and what it represents.

 

In this novel, I feel that Jean Plaidy manages to emphasize the female figure of the time, its impact, its manipulability and malleability, its submission to the male figure, among others. He also highlights all those women who are in the immediate environment of the Borgia Pope, his daughter, his mistresses, the mother of his children, his maids.

 

I consider that the story gets more exciting after the middle of the book; at the beginning the plot is a little slow (in my opinion), but I always love to read a novel by them.

 

 

Personal Rating: 8.5 out of 10 points (VERY GOOD).
